THE AIM

The International Competition Of A. Kucingis is organized to perpetuate the remembrance of the famous singer cherishing the academic singing traditions of the children and youth, stimulating their need in classical vocal art and national cultural associating. The aim of the competition is to discover young talented singers.

PARTICIPANTS

Pupils of secondary and music schools, vocational schools, gymnasiums and conservatoires, representatives of communities of national minorities, other girls and boys of cultural centres whose voices are not mutating at the time are invited to participate in the competition.

Participants are divided into three categories:

Category A – age 10-13 (inclusive);

Category B – age 14-16 (inclusive);

Category C – age 17-20 (inclusive).

One leader-pianist accompanies a singer. It is not allowed to use the sound speaker and phonograms.

The participants, their trainers and leaders who come to the competition from the other towns of Lithuania, pay their expenses for the journey, accommodation and living themselves.

 

TIME AND PLACE

The exact date and time will be given later. The detailed information about the competition will be sent to the participants that will have presented an application.

 

DOCUMENTS TO BE PRODUCED

The participants pay a participant fee of 80 Lt (≈ 24 EU). The fee cannot be returned. The participants are to produce the following documents:

1) THE APPLICATION;

2) A COPY OF THE CERTIFICATE OF BIRTH OR PASSPORT;

3) A PHOTOGRAPH. The application must include:

1) participant’s last name, first name, school, age, address, phone number, awards;

2) trainer’s last name, first name, qualification category, address, phone number;

3) programme in rounds; each round’s duration, leader’s last name;

4) note if there is need in booking a room in a hotel;

5) number of people that wish to be present at the conference.

 

 

ASSESSING COMMITEE

The participants will be assessed by the commitee that will consist of the famous people of culture from Lithuania and foreign countries. Performance of the participants will be assessed in points. The decisions of the comitee are final and unquestionable.

 

PROGRAMME

The competition will be performed in two rounds with audience. A and B category participants should prepare four musical compositions and C category participants – five. After the first round the assessing commitee will decide how many participants will go to the second round. After the second round the commitee will sum up the score and announce winners.

 

REPERTOIRE

In the first round the A category participants perform two compositions (no more than 8 minutes in total):

1) a lithuanian national song (with accompany or a cappella);

2) a classical composition (free choice);

In the second round the A category participants perform two freely chosen classical compositions.

In the first round the B category participants perform two compositions:

1) a classical composition of a lithuanian composer (a harmonized national song, an original song or romance);

2) an ancient arietta/aria.

In the second round the B category participants perform two compositions:

1) a world’s peoples’ national song;

2) a classical composition (free choice).

In the first round the C category participants perform two compositions:

1) a chosen song from the compositions of S. Simkus, J. Gruodis or J. Tallat-Kelpsa;

2) a classical arietta/aria.

In the second round the C category participants perform three compositions:

1) an aria from the opera, cantata or oratorio;

2) a romantic song (XIX c.);

3) a classical composition (free choice).

Note. All the compositions should be performed in their original language.

 

LAUREATES AND AWARDS

The laureates will be awarded with:

Ist degree diplomas and prizes,

IInd and IIIrd degree diplomas and prizes.

Special prizes for:

1) the best performance of a composition from A. Kucingis’ repertoire;

2) the best performance of a composition of a lithuanian composer;

3) the best performance of a lithuanian national song;

4) the best performance of an arietta/aria;

5) other special prizes.

Official messages of thanks will be given to the laureates’ trainers. There will be the award for the best leader-pianist of the competition.
